TC12 – Interoperability & Compliance Tests for 100 and 1000BASE-T1 PHYs

The objectives of the TC are to create and maintain conformance and interoperability test specifications for 100 and 1000BASE-T1 PHYs. The milestones that TC12 is currently working towards relate to the interoperability and PMA test suites and advanced diagnostic features for automotive Ethernet PHYs, which are currently in the IP review process ending in January 2025.

The status of the tasks related to the improvements of the 100 Mbit PCS and PHY control test suites is described below.

  • The group went through comment resolution after reviewing various editorial & technical comments and these were all resolved in Q2-CY23.
  • New PCS and PHY control test suite documents will be finalized by Q1-CY25. The group will then review the final documents for final approval.
The aim is to have the final documents ready by Q1-CY25.

TC12 has recently started work on amendments to 1000BASE-T1 over coax cabling. Some 1000BASE-T1 specifications (PMA, IOPT and EMC) will need to be updated. The timeline for the 1000BASE-T1 channel and component specification for coax cabling has been aligned with TC9. TC9 results are needed to harmonize these amendments, and the goal is to have the final documents ready by Q1-CY26.
