TC18 – Remote Control Protocol

Remote Control Protocol (RCP) is a lightweight communication technology, aimed to ease the transition towards zonal architectures and the simplification of the overall IVN towards an All-Ethernet approach. With the usage of RCP it is made possible to shift complexity around a reduced number of centralized computing platforms, hence reducing complexity, size and costs on attached peripheral devices.

Committee Goals

  • Design the overall system under which Remote Control can be deployed.
  • Define a protocol specification for Remote Control message communication.
  • Specify the client-server interaction which allows for direct access to remotely located interfaces.
